It's been a year since the January 8, 2008 UFO sighting in Stephenville, Texas. It raised the eyebrows of the entire world; CNN even dedicated a significant amount of time to event. The town of Stephenville, Texas will never be the same, a virtual 'Roswell' has sprung up literally overnite as the sales tax revenues from global lookie-loos' have filled the town coffers when the rest of the world has 'gone-out-of-business'. I have had an entire year to interview, investigate and poke-around all the stories revolving around this event.

In the small Texas town of Stephenville on January 8, 2008 over 30 residents claim to have seen a mile-wide UFO flying low, fast and silently over-head. So what was it?
The Men In Black
When the story broke, I had pushed some questions around to various acquaintances that I had both good and bad. After only a month I was approached by a proverbial 'Man In Black'..yes; a real alien hunter; these guys are dangerous. He had first hand information that the DEA's elite fast-boat interception unit had been called to North Texas the nite of the UFO sighting. In his exact words "The DEA, were the only people in the sky that nite". Now what in the world would the DEA be doing impersonating a UFO in Stephenville, Texas?
The UnderWorld and UFO's
When you listen to many of the players revolving around this event and I have travelled from one end of this country to the other in the last year with 'RABBIT EARS'. One thing quickly becomes apparent, from the good folks of Stephenville, Texas to the members of MUFON everyone thinks it's the government or better yet the AirForce. Many will rail on and on in front of thousands of paying guests for the United States Government to 'Disclose' all information regarding this UFO sighting and others like it. It got me to wondering...what does the MOB think about this?
As a journalist I occaisionally have my 'dark' connections. I arranged a meeting with a legendary Dallas mobster. Whom; at the time of the meeting had already been indicted for a lurid laundry list of crimes. When you got down to it..he was a Texas country boy at heart with ties in every small town and he knew 'everybody'. Over several shots of chilled Patron tequila, a gun stashed in his boot, $20,000 stuffed in his pockets and more than one dancing girl thrown in his lap...he confided in me. He was interested in UFO's especially Stephenville, Texas. A very intelligent person, he had been side-steppin the FEDS and the Mexican Gangs for years, making money hand-over-fist at the same time. He said he thought the UFO sighting was 'real'. I smiled back at him; ordered another round of shots from the waitress and waited for them to arrive.
Dallas is historically known for meetings of this nature; Jack Ruby owned a club similar to the one we were meeting in and there the assassination of a President was conspired. Clubs such as this are considered safe-houses; where people from all walks of life can gather without fear. During this meeting tatooed members of MS-13 were seated at a nearby table, a James Bond MI-6 look alike at another, and a group of shadowy CIA spooks at another, and my contact even fingered a group of FEDS hanging on the bar next to the DJ booth which seemed to be inhabited by a low-level Mossad alien. We toasted this round and the icy cold goodness of the tequila hit the bottom of my stomach which I was hoping would calm the shaking that was overtaking my hands.We laughed over some old rodeo stories and two more dancing girls were perched in his lap; we discussed drug running in Stephenville. He grinned at me.."there's drug running everywhere in Texas; but normally one 'family' controls each small town. You are not going to run drugs/UFO's or even setup business in Stephenville unless this 'family' knows it and more than likely taking a cut from it".
For the record I'm not interested in 'who' these people are and I have never asked and I never will...but to prove that the 'tip' I recieved was viable on both sides of the fence...we have to go down this road.
My mouth must have still been hanging open. He grinned at me again and slapped me on the arm; "You know your going to have to sleep with me for this;" ...this was an ongoing joke between us. I smiled back; "You know at the end of the day I have horses to feed; no time for me to mess around with you or anyone else for that matter." He grinned again over his tequila chuckling at the same time..."you never change do you?". Shifting in my chair and grinning right back at him; "I imagine; this family would'nt want too much attention on the wrong things; lest far too bright a light gets shone on them; they might even start running folks off that are getting too close to the truth?" With a pirates growl he ordered another round of chilled Patron shots. "...Aye; I know I would!"
The DEA
I had excused myself from the table to use the restroom. Washing my hands in the cold water from the sink hoping to keep my head clear - the restroom door suddenly flew open. A man was standing there dressed smartly in a black suit; he flashed a badge and identified himself as being from a certain Federal Agency. Caught off guard I was just standing there with my mouth open and my hands still under the running water. In a gruff voice he said "You don't know what your doing - you have 7 minutes" and with that the door closed and I never saw him again. I did end the meeting on a polite note and I left the bar. Which incidently is no longer in business.
Journalists Beaten & Threatened
Over the course of the last year several journalists working alone or in small groups on this story were threatened or beaten. Marie Ueda a Japanese journalist was in Stephenville, Texas and pursuant to leaving town was involved in two car accidents within minutes of each other. In her own words she said "I think someone was trying to kill me". Marie also related a similar story happening to Linda Moulton Howe while she was investigating in the area as well. UFO Hunter's Pat Uskert did not experience any problems while thier crew was in Stephenville but as he explained "we had alot of cameras 'all' the time." Subsequently after interviewing Pat; this journalist (me) was beaten on bus in the Arizona desert.
